The “Entrepreneur” has long been known for managing multiple responsibilities and logging numerous hours. Working without a break is a bad habit that can be detrimental to business productivity and your overall health. Harsh work schedules can force even the timeliest workers to miss out on rest time. Getting correct amounts of rest time is one of the biggest secrets to productivity. The main point is this: You get more done quicker when you take a step back to let the brain and body recharge. Continuous time on-task leads to unproductive factors such as stress, fatigue and negative mood, which disrupt focus and stunt productivity. A person’s ability to stay disciplined while working wanes with each exercise of self-control during the day. Rest is a resource that must be replenished, or it becomes more difficult to stay accurate, be attentive and problem solve. The stereotype of needing to perform constant uninterrupted work to make the sale, beat the opposition or do whatever is needed to succeed is counterproductive. Most entrepreneurs, rest is thought as an unnecessary pleasantry, put off for the long awaited vacation or break that seems to come and go so quick. It’s as if each day is a race that requires one to struggle across the finish line where they collapse just to wake up and do it again the next day. It isn’t the amount of time you spend working every day it’s the quality of the work you put in that will make the difference. Staying sharp and being creative are what will bring home the money. Get your eight hours, utilize short mental breaks throughout the day, and appreciate the off time that you do have.
